How to repair the damage in drywall

Every weekend holiday, we will go to restaurant to eat dim sum with my family, after that, we went home to do the garden work or housework. My husband likes to do some maintenance work for the house. This time, he discovered there were small holes on our drywall. Therefore, he tried to fix it with some equipment. For instance: Take out some compound patch, paper tape and screws etc.

First, cut a patch slightly larger than the hole from a scrap of drywall, the same thickness as the wall. Then, place the patch over the hole. Cut to the lines with a drywall saw, and remove the damaged wallboard. Place another small wood in the wall behind the hole, and attach them in place with drywall screws. After that, insert the drywall patch in the hole, and screw it to the wood together using drywall screws. Cover the patch with joint compound wood and put some tape on the seams. Then, smooth out the joint compound with a small drywall knife and let it dry. Apply two additional coats on the surface of the wall with a small drywall knife again, then, apply the compound out evenly over the next surface. Once the compound has dried, sand it smoothly before priming and painting. Finally, This method can become a permanent repair.
